New poll results suggest some voters would support introducing the death penalty for terrorism offences.
An exclusive SBS-commissioned Essential Media poll found most voters want the government to do more to combat the radicalisation of young people.
Edward Hogan is a young voter in Queensland.
He said that the best outcome for all Australians at this point is to bring understanding across religions and then focus on deradicalisation starting at a young age.
An SBS-commissioned Essential Media poll has found 84 per cent of voters agree with that sentiment.
83 per cent said making it harder to purchase guns is important.
And 54 per cent of voters polled said introducing the death penalty for acts of terrorism would be a good idea.
SBS also asked voters if they'd support giving police more powers to detain people behaving suspiciously.
Nearly 70 per cent supported the idea but some, like first-time voter Elaine Dunwoody, are concerned about civil liberties not being breached.
