Twenty-five-year-old Indian woman, Ansi Karippakkulam Alibava, from the southern Indian state of Kerala is among the 50 victims who lost their lives during the shooting massacre in New Zealand that sent shockwaves across the globe.
The news of Ms Alibava's death has left a deep wound in the hearts and minds of New Zealand's Indian community, which is rallying to support Ansi’s huband, Abdul Nazar, who escaped the terror attack that took many innocent lives and leaving dozens injured.
The Malayalee community which is yet to be recovered from the tragic loss of Ansi is trying to support Nazar both mentally and financially as far as hey could.
“Ansi came here on student visa with the utmost desire to pursue her Masters from a foreign university," family friend, Joy Kochakkan, told SBS Malayalam.
"She completed her Master of Management in Agribusiness from Lincoln University, an 18-month long course in just 12 months’ time and was waiting for her graduation. She was such a bright girl,”
Although the whole community is working round the clock towards the formal after death procedures, they have set up a fund raising page to raise funds to pay back the financial liability left behind by Ansi, the primary applicant for the student visa loans.

Ansi and Nazar, who started their married life just two years back came to New Zealand last year with the aim of leading a happy life in this far away land. “However the tragic incident which we never expected in New Zealand shattered their dreams.”
"The hefty sum of student loan which comes to over $57,100 has turned out to be a huge burden to the family at this stage.
"This will be something which is unbearable for Nazar. We don’t want to leave it with him,” adds Mr Kochakkan, also the President of Kerala Cultural Forum, the Malayalee group which has come forward to assist the grieving family financially.
“The thought of lending a hand to Nazar in this crucial situation has prompted us to start this fund raising page. . The page opened by the Kerala Cultural Forum, a Malayalee community group in New Zealand has now generated over $11,000 in just a day.”
“We hope to raise more and thereby help our beloved Ansi’s family to pay back this large amount which is now a burden on Nazar’s shoulder,” hopes Mr Kochakkan.
Mr Nazar with the help of his friends is now passing through formalities which are yet to be completed to receive Ms Alibava's body.
