A 14 member jury at the Supreme Court of Victoria had found on February 21st that 33-year-old Sofia Sam and her lover Arun Kamalasanan (35) are guilty of murdering Sofia's husband Sam Abraham with cyanide mixed in orange juice.

Arun Kamalasanan's plea hearing was held at the Victorian Supreme Court on Friday. His lawyer submitted reports and documents of his various psychartric consultations. This is to establish that Arun was under medication for depression, tendency to commit suicide and anxiety. The lawyer also requested the court to take these matters into consideration and reduce his jail term.

During the plea hearing held in March, Sofia Sam, the wife of the deceased Sam Abraham requested the court to reduce the term of her sentencing taking her nine year old son's future into consideration. However, the prosecution has objected it with the argument that Sofia did not consider her son who was sharing the bed with his much loved dad.

Both the accused will be sentenced on June 21 this year.

It was on October 2015 that 33-year old Sam Abraham was found dead at his Epping home in Melbourne.

But, when an autopsy report revealed that Sam died of cyanide poisoning, Victoria police started investigation with the help of covert operatives.

Covert operatives followed both Sofia and Arun Kamalasanan for months to gather evidence before recording their arrest. Both the accused have pleaded not guilty to the charges laid against them.
