"We will shortly launch a skill development programme, the Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana, targeted at Indian youth seeking overseas employment," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. The Prime Minister was adressing the 14th edition of Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas 2017 in Bangaluru.
It is said that the training under the Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana would be provided at par with the international standards.
What is Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana ?
Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PKVY) is a new scheme soon to be launched to enhance the skills of youth according to the international standards and help them getting overseas employment. It is a scheme similar to Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the scheme is aimed at training and certification of Indian workforce keen on working abroad in select sectors and job roles, in line with international standards, to facilitate overseas employment opportunities. The scheme will be implemented by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the would be consulting bodies for the implementation of PKVY, had already signed MoU for the implementation of the scheme in July last year.
