Indian-origin builder's license cancelled; SA consumer watchdog issues public warning

South Australian Consumer and Business Services has cancelled the license of a building company and its sole director of Indian-origin for allegedly accepting payments for services they failed to deliver and for providing fake building indemnity insurance certificates.

South Australia’s consumer watchdog Consumer and Business Services has issued a public warning against Fenbreeze Homes Pty Ltd, a building company in South Australia and its  director Joseph Biju Kavilpurayidathil. The SA consumer watchdog has also cancelled the license of the company and its director after receiving number of complaints from its clients.

According to SA Consumer and Business Services reports, the company and its director have allegedly accepted payment for services they failed to deliver and provided fake building indemnity insurance certificates to some of its clients.

Commissioner for Consumer Affairs Dini Soulio said “we heard from consumers who say that they have paid this business money to carry out building works that have either not been completed, or have no t been completed in a reasonable time, which may breach the Australian Consumer Law.”
Mr Soulio has urged the consumers who have had dealings with the business to check their indemnity insurance certificates to ensure they are valid.
“Consumer and Business Services is continuing to investigate matters relating to this business, and is warning the public not to enter into any contracts with Fenbreeze Homes for building services,” he said.

Consumer and Business Services is urging the public to contact them on 131 882 if anyone has concerns about their dealings with either Fenbreeze Homes or Mr Kavilpurayidathil.
