30-year-old Melbourne resident, Subha Anand was charged with culpable and dangerous driving causing the death of a 19-year-old teenager Natasha Pigot.
The incident occurred on January 10 2016 at around 2am in Williams Landing, Melbourne’s west after her Honda Civic car crashed into the back of the victim’s car.
Ms Anand has also been charged with having a blood alcohol reading of 0.159 per cent which is three times the legal limit and driving at 115km/hr in a 70km/hr zone.
Anand pleaded guilty to culpable driving causing death in June.
Anand who had her baby 14 months after the crash has now applied to the prison authorities to care for her nine-month-old son in jail.
It was reported that Anand was drinking with her boy friend and friends at her house in Truganina during before the incident.
Although she initially denied driving to police, a DNA sample on her airbag proved that she was driving, the Age reports.
Anand has been remanded in custody for sentencing on Friday.
Pigot’s mother Ms McMaster hoped judge John Smallwood would consider the lose Anand caused when he sentences the drink-driver on Friday, reports say.
