The incident occurred outside Deer Park shopping centre at Melbourne's west. The CCTV footage show two men armed with a knife pushing 29-year-old Navneet Singh to the ground before repeatedly beating him.

Reports say, the thugs stole his wallet and left. However, to his shock one of them returned to whip him after taking off Navneet's belt.

Victoria Police Detective Senior Constable Matthew Jerabek told Seven News, "they acted like animals and don’t deserve to be on the streets.”

Navneet who was disturbed and left unable to work had to seek psychological help.  Navneet said, "I just came normally to buy groceries and just going home. They are not safe for me -they are not safe for other people as well."

According to media, Navneet said won’t be able to continue with his job until he comes to know the two assailants are caught.

"If they take money that's not an issue, but the injuries you get emotionally you get hurt and it takes time to heal all these things," says Navneet.

The pair are described as Pacific Islander in appearance and aged in their 20s.
