According toThe New Indian Express, Anudeep Varri belongs to Vizag (Visakhapatnam) a city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Anudeep, a BTech student came to Australia for higher studies in February this year.
Victoria Poice has confirmed that the incident occurred on Wednesday noon when the 26 year old Anudeep along with three of his friends were on a day trip to Lake Bellfield, near Grampians National Park in Melbourne.
They were swimming at the Bellfield picnic area, when the drowning occurred. His friends told the police that Anudeep was marginally swimming outside the designated swimming area.
“He got into trouble some distance from shore and couldn’t be dragged in by his friends,” Sergeant Scott Olsen told The Stawell Times News.
He added that the man was under the water for 25 minutes and was submerged when police arrived. “He was located in two metres of water and pulled onto shore where we commenced CPR for 15 to 20 minutes before paramedics arrived,” Sergeant said.
“They performed CPR for another 15 minutes until they declared he couldn’t be resuscitated.” The man was declared dead around 1pm on Wednesday. The police have taken the statements of the eye-witnesses.
Sergeant said that Anudeep was a student at a Melbourne University.
