Sexual assault on train: Victorian police searching for man of Indian appearance

Victorian Police have released the CCTV image of a man of ‘Indian appearance’ who allegedly sexually assaulted two women on a city bound train from North Melbourne.

According to Victoria police, they are in search of a man believed to be of Indian appearance who allegedly sexually assaulted two women on board a train from North Melbourne station on Wednesday, 23 March 2016.

Police believe that the man boarded the train at around 8.15am and during his journey allegedly pressed himself up against two women and alighted at Parliament Railway Station.

Police have released the CCTV image of a man in his 30’s and had black hair and well kept stubble.

He was wearing a blue t-shirt and grey pants and was carrying a light brown coloured bag

Crime Stoppers, Victoria Police and Public Transport Victoria are joining forces to stamp out sexual offending on public transport and bring those responsible to justice.

As part of this, police are urging Victorians to review the image and inform Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 with the Reference number: CSV2408.

Such cases of sexual assaults by 'Indian-looking men' on public transport have become frequent incidents in Australia recently.
