Woman sexually assaulted: Police searching for man of Indian sub-continental appearance

Police are in search of a man perceived to be of Indian sub-continental appearance who sexually assaulted a woman at Mentone in Melbourne on March 7th. The man allegedly struck up a conversation with the woman and then sexually assaulted her before she managed to run off.

According to the Victoria Police, the incident occurred when a woman was exercising on a beach path near the intersection of Charman and Beach roads in the evening of March 7th. Around 7.30pm, she was approached by a man who struck up a conversation with her as she walked towards the Bay Trail. Police say that he then sexually assaulted her before she managed to run off.

Moorabbin Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are investigating the case. Police believe the man is perceived to be of Indian sub-continental appearance. They have released the digital facial composite image of the man whom they believe may be able to assist with enquiries.

The man was wearing dark-grey polo top and grey pants, possibly with stripes. He is around 160-165cm tall between the age of 40 and 60 , has short-cropped balding black hair that is greying, a black moustache, with solid build.
