An Indian woman and his friend faced court in Melbourne after being charged with the murder of her husband. Police told the court that Sam Abraham has been poisoned with.

33 year old Sam Abraham was found dead at his residence in Epping in October 2015. It is reported by Herald Sun newspaper that Sam has been poisoned with cyanide.

When his body was discovered at the Kirkland Ct property, police and his relatives believed he had died of a heart attack while he was asleep.

However, after months of investigations, this week detectives arrested Sam’s wife Sofia Sam and her male friend Arun Kamalasanan, alleging a bizarre cyanide poison plot. Police have arrested 34 year old Arun Kamalasanan of Port Melbourne with attempted murder and a separate charge of murder while Sofia Sam, has been charged with murder.

Though no suspicious evidence was found soon after his death, further investigations by the homicide detectives revealed that Sam was poisoned with cyanide.. Apart from that the CCTV footage and DNA will also form part of the brief of evidence.

Three months before his death, Sam was attacked and stabbed by a balaclava-clad man who had been hiding in the foot-well of his car at Lalor train station.

Sam suffered injuries on his neck, temple and cheek.  Police now allege that Aurn Kamalasanan was the man in the balaclava.

The Melbourne Magistrates’ Court heard police had intercepted phone calls throughout their investigation. Police have about three months of telephone recordings to transcribe and some of the conversations would need to be translated into English, the court was told.

The pair were remanded to reappear for a committal mention on February 13 next year.

Sam who was an employee at UAE Exchange, belonged to the Southern Indian state of Kerala.
