Maltese food is based on the seasons:

In summer

 

  • lampuki (dolphin fish),
  • ħobż biż-żejt (bread with olive oil covered with tomatoes and tuna)
  • pastizzi (flaky pastry filled with ricotta or peas) are some of the favorites dishes.

 

In winter

 

  • stuffat tal-fenek (rabbit stew),
  • chicken soup (brodu tat-tiġieġa)
  • widow’s soup (soppa tal-armla are) keep you warm on the wintry nights.
