There was heavy migration from Malta after World War II until the early 1980s. Between 1946 and the late 1970s, over 140,000 people left Malta on the assisted passage scheme, with 57.6 per cent migrating to Australia. Maltese Australian historian and researcher Mark Caruana talks about the Maltese arriving in Australia during this period.
