A Spotlight of First Nations Women at the St Kilda Film Festival with Fred Gesha

"It's so good to see the amount of films that are coming through, but also the different genres people are choosing to tell our stories through."


NITV Radio speaks with Fred Gesha, the First Peoples Arts festivals and events officer, overseeing First Nations programming for both the St Kilda Festival and the St Kilda Film Festival.

The St Kilda Film Festival is a a yearly showcase of established and novice storytellers bringing unique perspectives to the silver screen. This year Fred has programmed an incredible catalogue of of First Nations films as well as a focus of First Nations Women in Film.

Fred shares about his role as First Nations Programming, insights on the many stories and storytellers entered into this years festival, saying "there is a large number of films produced and directed by First Nations females" with a dedicated program to highlight the significance in the festival.
