Blak Cede Cafe located in the heart of Nowra on the NSW South Coast, led by Waminda, is creating real change within the community by offering training and employment opportunities for Aboriginal women in the Shoalhaven region, and celebrating culture through food, language and design.

Blak Cede is a culturally safe space grounded in community and connection. From locally grown native ingredients on the menu, to dishes named in language. Blak Cede celebrates Aboriginal knowledge and identity in every detail, including the artwork and design that creates a warm, welcoming environment for all who walk through the door.

The cafe has already received widespread recognition, winning a regional NAIDOC Award and the title of Best Coffee in the Shoalhaven.

NITV Radio was joined by the incredible manager of Blak Cede, Melaine Williams to talk about the journey so far, the impact it’s having in community and what’s next for this powerful grassroots business.
