The Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council ordered by the government to lockdown the community since midnight on the 30 March.

NITV Radio's Kerri-Lee Harding yarns with Zala Chatrur – The Chief Executive Officer at the Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council which has now been ordered by the government to lockdown the community since midnight on the 30 March due to coronavirus.

And reports from community say community residents are feeling stressed, panicked and some even angry at the lockdown occurring on Wakka Wakka country.

For respected elders living at Cherbourg this most recent time of the restriction of movement, only reminds our old people of the days when they lived under very strict government controls.  A permit was needed back in the day if you wanted to leave Cherbourg mission to go into town to Murgon or Kingaroy. The local council wish the Government had done more work in community before Cherbourg community went into lock down this week.
