Children at Bega Primary School celebrate The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day with an arts competition.

This year's theme is for the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day is My Country, Our Country, We All Belong.


Celebrations were held around Australia including the Torres Strait islands to show the rest of the world how bright and wonderful First Nations children are and the joy they bring to their families.

Children from the Bega Primary School in New South Wales showed how they belong by expressing themselves in an art competition. Student Sam Andy, was surprised to win an award on Childrens Day NAIDOC Indigenous children's art competition. The award was presented to Sam by by Shelley Pittman, a Yuin & Kamilloray woman who works as Customer Services Officer with Centrelink and the Department of Human Services.

During the awards presentation Shelley Pittman said that she was particularly pleased to see children celebrating their sense of belonging with the theme My Country, Our Country, We All Belong.
