The Colleano Heart is an epic film that looks at history of a circus family with Aboriginal heritage. The Colleanos were famous overseas, but not so much back at home in Australia – which they fled.
Pauline Clague is Yaegl woman and one of Australia’s most influential Indigenous filmmakers. She now tells the story from an Indigenous perspective. In an interview for NITV Radio, the Associate Professor, Filmmaker, director and producer Pauline Clague talks also about bringing Indigenous Stories to the big screen (or keeping them in community) and shares her experience when she was producing the film: from researching archives and family materials to then finally meeting the members of the Colleano family.
