Wiradjuri Woman Eve White reflects on the past year and its challenges as well the outlook on new beginnings in the New Year. Eve White also speaks about sharing the wisdom of Connection to Country with Yoga teachers as well as co-creating a RAP with Yoga Australia and calling it Reciprocity Action Plan rather than a Reconciliation Action Plan.

Eve White is a proud Wiradjuri woman, Yoga teacher, Mermaid Fitness program creator and a cultural awareness facilitator.

Speaking to NITV Radio’s Sarka Pechova Eve talks about a year full of challenges and new beginnings. About sharing the wisdom of Connection to Country with Yoga teachers, co-creating a RAP with Yoga Australia and calling it Reciprocity Action Plan rather than a Reconciliation Action Plan.

As many Yoga teachers, educators and fitness instructors, Eve had to move her teachings, classes and yarns online last year. Which has brought many challenges, such as talking to blank screens as students preferred to have cameras off. But last year and the move online has brought also opportunities to share cultural awareness programs online.

Eve is a director of Ngungwulah Aboriginal Corporation: creating cultural awareness program for Yoga teachers.  Teachers are learning about the history and the cultural background and learn about Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Traditional Owners.

When Eve started to teach Yoga and she has delved also into her ancestors’ spirituality of her, she found connections between the two. “Opening a [Yoga] practice is such a potent time to acknowledge the country,” Eve says.

Eve felt a calling to share that further: she was invited to share that with Yoga Australia. And with her colleague they created RAP, which they call a Reciprocity Action Plan, rather than a Reconciliation Action Plan. As they feel it resonates more also with the Yoga practice. Eve is now also holding a space for a yarning circle for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Yoga teachers.

In an interview for NITV Radio Eve also shares her tips on how to start a new, healthier chapter in 2022.
