The song (Love) was written prior to the global Covid-19 pandemic, but Mitch Tambo says its universal themes have taken on a new meaning as we are isolated from the things, places and people we love.
“LOVE is about that one particular space we go to as humans to find love and healing, where our hearts are broken open and set free with love. For some it’s going to the footy with the family, others could be sitting on a headland watching the waves roll in.”
It’s been a massive year for Melbourne-based Gamilaraay songwriter Mitch Tambo.
The artist first came to national attention last year when he performed John Farnham’s iconic anthem ‘You’re the Voice’ on Australia’s Got Talent.
In this ground-breaking appearance Mitch was wearing the Dhinawan and Murray crest and feathers, items which have significant meaning to Gamilaraay people.
Tambo released a version of the song in late 2019 and competed in Eurovision: Australia Decides with his uniting track ‘Together’.
In February this year, Tambo closed out the historic Fire Fight concert singing ‘You’re the Voice’ with John Farnham, Olivia Newton-John and Queen’s Brian May in a performance for the ages.
Tambo has been using his Instagram account to do daily TAMBO TALK to motivate and connect with his fans directly.
He has since partnered with NITV for TAMBO TALK to stream weekly on NITV Facebook.
