For Between Waves, Mandy Quadrio created a multi-piece sculptural installation that responds to buried Australian colonial histories that have dominated her Tasmanian Aboriginal people since invasion and colonisation.
In a conversation with NITV Radio, Mandy Quadrio shed more details about her art practice which is informed by two major influences in her life: the disappearance of her mother from Naarm, which was never investigated resulting in a complete erasure from her life.
Her art is also influenced by the history of her people, the Palawa people of lutruwita, who have always lived under the myth of extinction.
