The National Indigenous Art Fair is not just about art, it’s also about the conversations shaping the future of First Nations creative practice.
This year’s TALKS program, curated by South Sea and Torres Strait Islander curator Matt Poll, will run across the full weekend at The Cutaway, bringing together some of the country’s most respected voices in art, fashion and cultural leadership.
The program includes conversations with Djon Mundine, fashion creative Billie-Jean Hamlet and collector Sebastian Goldspink. Audiences will also hear from Kristy Dickinson from Haus of Dizzy to explore the rise of contemporary jewellery.
Curator Matt Poll will also present his own talk, The Reciprocal Museum, exploring the role of Indigenous art centres as sovereign cultural spaces where communities maintain control over how their stories are shared.
Running from 3–5 July, the Fair continues to spotlight the strength, diversity and innovation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and communities from across Australia.
