Alywarre woman, Viviana Petyarre from CAAMA Media wins the 2016 NITV Spirit Initiative.
During the 18th National Remote Indigenous Media Festival in Yirrkala, NITV announced the winner of the Spirit Initiative after placing a call out for submissions for a fifth series of the short-documentary initiative, Our Stories.
Viviana Petyarre from the Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) won the 2016 NITV Spirit Initiative with her pitch to create a short film based on her travels from Alice Springs to Utopia.
In the film Viviana will visit her three Grandmothers and learn about her ancestors and country. The urgency of the journey for Viviana's family is that her Grandmother's country has been flagged for mining. Utopia is an ancient place that holds a cave system with rock paintings and other sacred sites that hold her family history.

The Spirit Initiative includes a three week placement with NITV alongside the "Our Stories" production commission.
The doors are opening for Viviana as we wait patiently to see her documentary on NITV's "Our Stories."
