A thrilling and hilarious journey into Aboriginal traditional spirit stories and urban legends.
In pursuing their intrepid search for the truth behind Aboriginal scary stories and urban legends, Zac James and Hunter Page-Lochard were motivated by their strong belief in their ancestral spirituality.
An interest that they shared with many of the elders and story tellers featured in the series.
According to Zac James unearthing scary stories to investigate did not present a major challenge because as a People we (Aboriginal people) like to share.
Hence, investigating the stories was often done while sharing a cup of tea and having a good yarn.
Nevertheless, Zac James also cautions that some of the stories that he and Hunter Page-Lochard discovered are sacred and need to be approached with the necessary care and respect for custodian owners.
Also, some spiritual stories can't just be told by anyone.
Besides demystifying some urban myths, the Shadow Trackers series also shows how Aboriginal story telling is an excellent vehicle to convey moral guidance and teach life lessons.
