A new exhibition takes us on a journey through our senses and in particular our sixth sense.
A new exhibition curated by Bungalung curator Djon Mundine featuring both Indigenous and non Indigenous artists has opened in Sydney. Sixth Sense, the show takes us on a journey through our senses and in particular our sixth sense.
The show includes artists Daniel Boyd, Destiny Deacon and Virginia Fraser, Karla Dickens, Fiona Foley, Nicole Foreshew, Willurai Kirkbright, Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Gabriella Mangano and Silvana Mangano, Archie Moore, Nasim Nasr and Skye Raabe who investigate sensory experience, perception or intuition through their artwork.
Djon told Living Black Radio that the idea for the show came from the Grace Jones song - Art Groupie.
He also gives advice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists saying they should gain an un-breachable idea of who they are and that once they have that, no one can take it away from you.
Although this exhibition includes works by both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous artists, Mr. Mundine says that he will continue his primary interests and expertise - working with his people.
The show Sixth Sense will run at the National Art School in Sydney until the 15th of October.
