At 36, proud Aboriginal woman Tahnee Capon reflects on how adult education helped her navigate one of the most challenging periods of her life.
While studying Community Services, Tahnee experienced homelessness but remained committed to completing her education.
Today, Tahnee draws on both her professional training and lived experience to support people facing significant hardship in her community.
Named an Adult Learners Week 2026 ambassador, she hopes her story will encourage others who may face barriers to education.
Tahnee says continuing her studies helped her rebuild her life, restoring her confidence, purpose and sense of direction, while strengthening her ability to support others through difficult circumstances.
