Teenage First Nations disability advocate says losing her vison gave her an advantage as a musician

14-year-old Onyx, from the Kukatja and Pintupi people in the Kimberley performed at a gathering of 500 people in Perth at a special event celebrating disability advocates on International Day of People with Disability (December 3).


Onyx, a year 8 student, is a talented singer and multi-instrument player. She says losing her vision at a young age gave her an advantage as a musician.

“Well, my teacher says I have perfect pitch and I think that is because I concentrate more on sound than sight.”
