R U OK?Day is an annual national day of action; held on the second Thursday of September and a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation.
Singer songwriter Casey Donavan is the youngest ever winner of Australian Idol and has been one of the most prominent ambassadors of R U Okay?Day for several years now.
In a conversation with NITV Radio, the singer songwriter highlighted the very difficult circumstances of R U OK?Day 2020.
“It’s been a massive year. Not only did we start the year with massive bushfires that travelled up and down the coastline; once we got over that we thought we had a bit of a breathing room to regroup and refocus then within weeks we were faced with a global pandemic that is Covid-19,” Casey Donovan said.
“I think it has taken its toll on everyone mentally, physically, emotionally. It’s really been a quiet a tough time.”
As a singer songwriter Casey Donovan has been hit hard in various aspects of her life, especially on a professional having all her gigs cancelled.
Casey Donovan says she has managed to navigate the tough lockdown conditions by going to exercise and running an online event to connect with people and share an outlet.
She said, on R U OK?Day it is important to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with friends, family and colleagues who might be struggling with life.
