Coinciding with Harmony Day and the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the National Indigenous Youth Education Coalition (NIYEC) is releasing its groundbreaking "The School Exclusion Project" research report. Hailed as an Australian-first, the research delves into the historical roots of exclusion faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

In a conversation with NITV Radio, Hayley McQuire CEO of NIYEC says that "The School Exclusion Project” report sheds light on how government policies from the 19th century to present have contributed to ongoing exclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Australian schools.

Hayley McQuire further emphasizes the importance of student voices. With the report launch, NIYEC is also unveiling a "School Exclusion 101 Youth Guide" and online resources.

The event fosters dialogue and youth-led action research towards dismantling systemic racism and building an equitable learning system led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices.
