Peace makers from four corners of the world staged a week long action to draw attention on Australia's complicity in US's extrajudicial killings and demanded the immediate closure of Pine Gap, a joint Australian-US military spy facility.

Last week, anti-war and peace activists from Australia and other parts of the world converged at the gates of the Pine Gap Military Spy base south of Alice Springs.

The objective of the week long action was the immediate closure of this joint Australian-US military facility which is one of the largest and most important war fighting and intelligence gathering bases in the world.

Jacob Grech, one of the protesters, says that during the protest a range of colourful and creative actions were used in order to draw attention to Australia's complicity in US lead wars and invasions around the world.

He added that it is through Pine Gap's signal collection operations that the murder of individuals by US drone-based weapons, outside national and international law, is organised.

According to him, far from bringing security to Australia, Pine Gap assists the US to perpetrate wars against countries in our region and beyond and helps swell the list of Australia's enemies.

He also says that traditional owners of the area joined the action as they were never consulted in the development and operation of this facility.

Furthermore, traditional owners are deeply saddened and feel distressed by killings orchestrated around the world from their ancestral land.
