Zakat is the third Pillar of Islam, and it is the compulsory giving of a set proportion of one's wealth to charity.


Zakat is regarded as a type of worship and self-purification.

In most of the cases, Zakat systematic giving of 2.5% of one's wealth each year to benefit the poor.

Australian Imam Council has recently given a Fatwa on Zakat for the Muslims living in Australia.
