Sydney Opera House is one of the most famous buildings of the 20th century. The iconic building was designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon. The work began in 1958 and was completed in 1973. The complex nature of the design and the expense of realising it resulted in tensions between Utzon and the government of the time, with Utzon ultimately resigning during the building of the project. In 1999 an agreement was reached by Utzon and NSW government. Utzon handed over the original plan and the unfinished parts of the building were completed. The Opera House attracts millions of people each year and hosts some prestigious concerts. Mujeeb Muneeb has looked at its history and you can listen to the report here.
