Lack of exercise increases cancer risk

According to a Cancer Council survey, most people believe a lack of time is the reason behind their lack of exercise.


Recent research has found that more than 200,000 cancer cases could be avoided in the next quarter century, but only if Australian adults maintain a healthy weight, and exercise much more than they currently are.

The poll by the Cancer Council found that 61 per cent of those surveyed blame a lack of time, for not exercising enough.

The poll also found that 14 per cent said sweating, sore muscles and blisters made them uncomfortable, while 13 per cent blamed the cost of gyms.

The Cancer Council's Nutrition Program Manager, Wendy Watson, says people need to start factoring exercise into each day.
