PTM and the government will hold jirga on 16 May.

Some senior tribal leaders appointed by the Pakistan government say that the response of the PTM to hold a jirga this month is positive.

Talking to SBS Pashto, the government appointed jirga team’s leader Haji Shah Jee Gul Afridi said, he has the full backing of the government and will hold the jirga with PTM on 16 May.

The jirga talks are reported at the time that dozens of PTM supporters have been arrested across Pakistan and there have been some harassment cases reported.

In Karachi Pakistan, the government is allegedly trying to stop PTM gathering and has already arrested a number of its supporters.

PTM has not yet officially confirmed whether it will hold a jirga with so-called government-appointed a committee.

Islam Gul Afridi has more.
