Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says the Australian Government supports the United States air strike on a Syrian airfield

Australia is a key ally in the US-led intervention in Syria, and defence minister Marise Payne was briefed on the strike hours before the missiles were launched. The Government has not committed to any further action for now, but the Prime Minister says he remains committed to the ongoing military operations in Iraq and Syria.
