The Australian government is introducing a new childcare package.

While it will only be implemented in July, parents can prepare ahead of time to make the transition easier. From the second of July, the current Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate will be scrapped and replaced by the new Child Care Subsidy. It will be paid directly to childcare services. Federal Minister for Education and Training Simon Birmingham explains that the new system will be simpler for parents. Most parents should be better off once the new Child Care Subsidy comes into place. Currently, many families have their Child Care Rebate capped at 7500 dollars a year per child. From July, there will be no cap on the amount of Child Care Subsidy most families will receive. Please listen to the full report in Pashto.
