The United Nations General Assembly has approved a resolution calling for the United States to drop its recent recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The vote comes in defiance of threats by US president Donald Trump and the country's ambassador to the United Nations. More than a hundred nations voted in favour of the resolution, nine voted against it, and 35 countries abstained -- including Australia.
