Victorian plan a start for fight on housing affordability

The Victorian government has announced stamp duty will be abolished for first-home buyers in the state purchasing property under $600,000. Victorian premier Daniel Andrews says he hopes the move will help address housing affordability, a hot political issue across the country. Federal Treasurer Scott Morrison says addressing the price of housing will be a focus of the Government's May budget, but there is disagreement over how to tackle the issue.
