The death toll from the car attack on pedestrians in Melbourne's C-B-D (Thu) has risen to five.

Police have confirmed the death of a three-month old baby. They say four others remain in a critical condition.

A 10-year-old girl, 25-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman died at the scene, after the car driver sped along Bourke Street Mall.

A 33-year-old man died in hospital on Friday night.

Police say they aim to question and charge the 26-year-old suspect -- believed to be Dimitrious Gargasoulas -- this weekend. He remains in hospital under police guard.
