German tourist couple found dead in Australia's outback

Northern Territory police have confirmed they have found the body of a 73-year-old German tourist east of Alice Springs.


It comes a day after the body of her 76-year-old husband was discovered in Trephina Gorge.

The pair went missing had been missing in the remote outback since Friday, with temperatures soaring to 40 degrees Celsius.

N-T police sergeant Phil Emmett has described the incident as "tragic".

"I'd just like to convey my condolences. Such a sad end to what was obviously a lifetime of endeavour, and of planning to come and visit Australia. What a tragic end."
