ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਮੈਲਕਮ ਟਰਨਬੁੱਲ ਨੇ ਸਮੁਚੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਅਨ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਧਾਈਆਂ ਦੇਂਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਇਹ ਸਾਡਾ ਸੁਭਾਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀਪੂਰਨ ਤੇ ਅਮਨ ਪਸੰਦ ਮੁਲਕ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਆਂ, ਜਿਥੇ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਨਤਾ ਦਿਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਿਓਹਾਰ ਧੂਮ ਧਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਨਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹੁਣ".

In his special Diwali message PM Turnbull said, "Diwali is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge our great fortune to live in a land of peace and tolerance where diversity is valued and celebrated."

He went on to add that Australia is "the most successful multicultural nation on earth," which "shines brightly as a beacon", in a world ravaged by divisions and conflict.
