ਬੀ ਬੀ ਸੀ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਝਾਰਖੰਡ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਨਿਜੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਨੇ ਤੇਰਾਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਬਲਦੀ ਮੋਮਬੱਤੀ ਦੀ ਲਾਟ ਦੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਨ ਸੱਤ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਜ਼ਖਮ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਇੱਕ ਬੱਚਾ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਨੇ ਜਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਫੱੜ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਲੈਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਪਿਆ।
ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਬੀ ਬੀ ਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਰਕਤ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਪੈਸੇ ਚੋਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ।
ਇਹ ਘਟਨਾ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋਏ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਕਰਨ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਈ ਜਿਸ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਕੂਲ ਨੇ ਸਸ੍ਪੇੰਡ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਦਰਜ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

A school principal in India allegedly forced thirteen students to hold their hands over a candle, causing burn injuries to many of them, in what she called an attempt to find out who stole money from another pupil in the class, the BBC reported.
The injured students are aged between 9 and 10.
The incident that occurred at a private school in Jharkhand surfaced when the parents of students who received burns complained to the authorities.
The principal, Sushanti Hembrom, was suspended after the complaints and a police case registered against her. Police officials told the BBC that the principal had admitted to forcing students to hold their hands over the fire and claimed that she was trying to find out if one of them had stolen money from another student.
The police official said Ms Hembrom told them she expected the students to reveal the truth out of fear. But all the students followed her instruction which caused burns to at least seven of them. At least one of them whose hand Ms Hembrom is alleged to have forcibly held over the flame, was injured badly and had to be admitted to hospital.
The police said the principal realised she had made a “big mistake” and apologised for the act.
Physical punishment is prohibited in India, however, it continues to remain widespread in many parts of the country. Last month, a private school teacher beat up a 10-year-old hearing impaired student with a stick, leading to a protest demonstration by the student’s parents.
In November last year, many students of a girls’ school in the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh were forced to undress after they allegedly wrote notes about the male principal and a female teacher having an affair.
