Medicare stopped giving refunds cheques a few years ago, instead transferring funds to customers bank accounts.
Human Services Minister Michael Keenan has told the ABC about 670,000 people are owed money and insists it takes about one minute to provide the necessary information to receive the rebates.
"This is the way that the government operates and this is the way of course most organisations operate. The days of issuing cheques now are long gone. It's much simpler and easier for Australians to do it this way. And we would like to see people give us these simple details, so they can get their rebate paid directly to them", - Michael Keenan said.
