Russian Film Festival to open tomorrow!

A star-studded line up of celebrities will touch down in Sydney this week to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of one of Australia’s favourite film festivals, the Russian Resurrection Film Festival. The festival will be hosting an exclusive media launch at Event Cinemas George St on Thursday before the opening night gala red carpet event. Opening in other cities will follow.

Amongst the VIP guests is Russian heart throb Danila Kozlovsky who stars and debuts as director in the opening night film The Coach.The popular new soccer drama The Coach was released in the lead up to the FIFA World Cup in Russia this year and Danila was made an official ambassador to the event. In addition to his successful career in Russian cinema, Danila Kozlovsky has a large following of fans in Australia after his role in popular US film Vampire Academy.

Legendary Russian actor Konstantin Khabenskiy will also be attending the festival. Konstantin stars in two features on the program: the exhilarating new Russian thriller Selfie and Sobibor, a powerful WWII film about the only successful breakout from a concentration camp, which he also directed.This year marks the 75th anniversary of the mass breakout from the Sobibor extermination camp.

Producer of Selfie Peter Anurov will also be attending. A prominent Russian producer, Peter has had many films screen at Russian Resurrection Film Festival over the years including the popular Souless andSouless 2 blockbusters.

Director Ilya Maximov will present his new  thriller/horror Soul Conductor.

Director Ivan Tverdovskiy. Ivan will be participating in a special Q&A session at the Sydney screening of his new crime thriller, Jumpman, on Sunday 4thNovember at Event Cinemas George Street.

From some of the latest Russian sporting dramas, family fantasies and romantic comedies to classic Soviet cinema and war films based on actual events there is something for everyone on the Russian Resurrection Film Festival program this year.

A special retrospective collection will also showcase a selection of award-winning Soviet films to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of Lenfilm Studios in St. Petersburg and the 90-year anniversary of renowned director Vitaliy Melnikov.
