Two Russians didn't make it to the second round

The 2017 Australian Open began in style at Melbourne Park, as fans flocked to the precinct on the first day of the tournament. In the natural spotlight were world number ones Andy Murray and Angelique Kerber, as well as 17-time grand slam champion Roger Federer. All had wins in their opening matches; some more challenging than others.

Stanislav Wawrinka has won against Slovak Martin Klijan in five sets (4:6, 6:4, 7:5, 4:6, 6:4). Russian Andrey Rublyov started successfully, winning Yen-Hsun Lu from Taiwan (4:6, 6:3, 7:6 (7:0), 6:3). However his follwing rival will be Sir Andy Murray from Great Britain who defeated  Ilya Marchenko from Ukraine (:5, 7:6 (7:5), 6:2)

In the women's tournament American Venus Williams  has beaten Ukrainian Katerina Kozlova — 7:6 (7:5), 7:5.  Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova also passed through to the second round defeating her compatriot Evgenia Rodina — 6:1, 7:6 (7:2).

But Russian Irina Khromacheva couldn't break  into the second round of the  Australian Open. She lost to Romanian Sorana Cirstea  2:6, 1:6

Russian Andrey Kuznetsov  unfortunately has also conceded to Japanese Kei Nishikori in the first round of Australian Open. Score 5:7, 6:1, 6:4, 6:7 (6:8), 6:2 to the Japanese and Andrey, of course, was disappointed
