Dreams can become true. If you don't believe just ask Milos Degenek. The player who was a member of the Australian football national team in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, this Friday fulfilled one of his biggest childhood fantasies - he has signed a three year contract with the Serbian Super League champions Red Star Belgrade.

"It's an honour to become a part of the biggest club in Balkans, the club that me and my family have always cheered for," said Degenek after he was officially presented at the Red Star Stadium as a major reinforcement ahead of the new season.

"I was close to realise my childhood dream few years ago, but no final deal was done at the time. Now I am very happy to be here and can't wait for the season to start. I am aware of the clubs and fans expectations and I'll give my best to help Red Star play in the Champions League," added Milos.

Degenek was born in Knin in 1994. When he was only one year old his family had to flee to Serbia, where they lived until 1999 before they moved to Sydney.

Milos started his football career in the youth team of Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC. After a brief spell at the Australian Institute for Sport, at the age of 17 he moved to the German outfit VfB Stuttgart. In June 2015 Degenek signed a two-year contract with FC 1860 Munich. Last season he played for the Japanese side Yokohama Marinos, making 28 appearances for the club.

For the Australian national team Milos Degenek was capped 18 times and was a member of 23-man squad for 2018 FIFA World Cup but didn't get a chance to play in Russia.
