If the bookies are anything to go by, our Dami is a sure thing for a grand final finish – currently ranked third in the betting odds behind only Russia’s Sergey Lazarev and France’s Amir.
Lazarev is of course the super-sexy, shirt-lifting consummate pop-darling of Russia where he is not only a singer but also a TV presenter and actor. As well as performing in plays and running his own pet-treats business, 'Confectionary for Pets,' on the side, the busy star has been touring Russia with his epic 'The Best Show' tour in the lead up to Eurovision.
Will he be able to maintain that level of momentum for his Eurovision performance though?
All that multi-tasking recently proved too much for the star when he passed out on stage mid-performance.
Still, Lazarev’s banger “You Are the Only One” is the best bit of dance pop Eurovision has seen in the last 3 or 4 years containing a super-catchy chorus and one killer of a key change. Plus if his official videoclip is anything to go by, we can expect the staging to be a dramatic feast of visual trickery.
France’s adorable Amir meanwhile, presents one of the best tunes that the French contingent have presented in many years with “J’ai cherche” – a ridiculously catchy pure-pop piece that fuses both French and English lyrics to offer something for everyone.
Amir himself comes from an interesting mixture of Israeli, Tunisian, Moroccan and Spanish heritage and shot to fame on France’s The Voice in 2013.
It turns out he’s a massive fan of our very own Dami too, and shared this incredible cover of her 2016 Eurovision song ‘Sound of Silence’ last week in a Periscope session with Aussie fans from the Twitter Blue Room:
WOW. We could almost forgive him for currently beating Dami in the betting odds. Almost – but not quite. Perhaps that could team up for a duet and blow all the competition out of the water?

The Eurovision Song Contest will be broadcast on SBS’s Eurovision Weekend - Friday 13, Saturday 14 and Grand Final Sunday 15 May, 7.30pm on SBS, with LIVE early morning broadcasts from 5am on Wednesday 11, Friday 13 and Sunday 15 May.
