Nick Kyrgios out-aced Novak Djokovic for the second time in a fortnight to set up a quarter-final blockbuster with Roger Federer in Indian Wells. Continuing his rich vein of form, Kyrgios defeated three-time defending champion Djokovic 6-4 7-6 (7-3) to power into the last eight of the Masters 1000 event for the first time.

By the strange decision of the tournament organizers Djokovic had to play against Kyrgios only 18 hours after the Round 3 game with Del Potro. Serbian reached milestone 300th win on Masters Series tournaments, defeating Argentinian 2:1.

World No.2 Djokovic had been riding a four-year, 20-match winning streak in the Californian desert and hailed his display against Del Potro as his best tennis of the year.

But he had no answer to Kyrgios' awesome firepower and had to come to terms with defeat by Australian.
