After last years success of over 500 guests, this year saw over 650 school and community representatives filled the Club Punchbowl to celebrate the spirit of education and unity that exemplify the NSW Community Languages sector.
The highlight of the evening was Premier Berejiklians announcement of a $10.9m funding increase to the NSW Community Languages sector. This will go to assist the schools even more in the teaching of language and culture. The State has never seen such a boost in the sector and it is indicative of the immense work done by everybody involved.
During the evenings celebrations, teachers, volunteers and students received recognition for the outstanding work they have provided during the course of their involvement with the schools: An impressive art competition saw hundreds of budding community language school student artists produce work on the theme of festivity. Of these 9 works received prizes and many, many more were commended for their excellence.
Teachers were also recognised for their 25 years of service, many who have served more, in the community language school sector. Twelve teachers received commemorative plaques which reminded everyone present of the level of dedication that our schools harbour.
The evening was a brilliant start to a bright future for the Federation and the entire community languages sector of NSW.
