Many of us consider ourselves as the genuine coffee lovers who couldn’t imagine to start a day without a cup of hot coffee. Either you prefer a short black, macchiato, latte or double shot cappuccino, magical flavors extracted from the coffee beans became an integral part of our catch-ups with friends, our business meetings or periods in a day when we just want to enjoy on our own.
But, have you ever wondered what’s behind a good cup of coffee? How much time, energy, different complex processes and - most of all - patience, is necessary to bring the products of finest beans to your table at home or in café?
In the search for the best possible answers we knocked on the door of a devoted coffee champion Sasa Sestic. The world’s no1 barista gave us a chance to peek into the story behind a cup of perfect espresso in his own coffee paradise in Canberra. Also, he revealed how did he managed to achieve success in the industry and how film producers Jeff Hann and Roland Fraval joined him in the worldwide quest for the perfect coffee bean.
Driven by Sasa’s passion and commitment to create the best coffee taste ever, they came together to record his journey through Africa, Latin America and finally days of glory at The World Barista Championship in Seattle. So the award winning documentary The Coffee Man was born!
Nevertheless, a few weeks ago The Coffee Man was crowned “Best Australian Documentary” at the Melbourne Film Festival.
In an exclusive interview with SBS Radio Serbian, Sasa revealed a number of interesting and funny details that happened behind the scenes, like “milk smuggling task” from Australia to USA and winning the trophy supported by melody of Serbian pop song “Lane moje” (My Sweetheart)…
